Nature is for Everyone
By Tran Ly, TCU Senior Nursing Student
As an international student that lives far away from home, I always feel homesick whenever our memorable holiday, Lunar New Year comes around. I remembered the red envelope filled with money, the delicious Vietnamese Caramelized Pork and Eggs, the Ao Dai dresses, etc. But what can never be missed is the pot of yellow apricot blossom all around the city. The picture below is one of the pictures of the yellow apricot blossoms.
I found nature is something very comforting, and I have always liked the beauty of flowers. I started to make crepe flowers in fifth grade because I wanted to create a more permanent and long-lasting beauty. The picture down here is one of the flowers I made. I love making roses because my grandmother’s name is Hong, which translates as Rose in English. She is the one that profoundly impacts who I am as a person today, and I am grateful to have such a powerful role model like here.
I love not only the beauty of nature, but I found nature is something that anyone can enjoy, despite our geographical region, ethics, and socioeconomic status. I found nature connects me to home because I know that I can always “share” nature with my family no matter where I am. After the clinical rotation, I appreciated nature more, providing comfort for the kids at Morningside Elementary and me. They enjoyed gardening so much, seeing beauty in different plants and vegetables. Nature is for everyone.
