Time in the Garden

By Annabelle Arntson, TCU Senior Nursing Student

To me, my mom's garden is where I feel most at peace in nature. It is my favorite space full of vibrant colors, rich aromas, and the perfect amount of noise. All you can hear is the leaves of the plants blowing in the breeze and the buzz of the bumblebees pollinating the raspberry bramble. After spending so much time learning about how important time in nature is to not only our physical health but our mental well-being, I was brought back to my roots and my fond memories of my time spent in my garden at home with my mother. A garden like hers takes so much tender loving care and to see it blossom is the eighth wonder of the world. These three photos depict just how beautiful time spent outside, in the fresh air, and under the sun, can be. I feel rejuvenated after spending time within the four walls of our garden. I feel grounded with dirt under my nails and fresh produce in my arms. There is nothing like it. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing piece of nature to come home to. Not only do I crave time in the garden but it makes me so thankful for the foods I take away from it and how they can nourish my body, not to mention how much there is to learn from nurturing a bountiful garden like this. I hope everyone enjoys the colors, the light, and the joy these photos bring, just as much as I do.
